Rayburn Moore family papers, 1914-1988.

The collection consists of biographical information, correspondence from family and friends, Army papers, printed material, photographs, and artifacts. The correspondence includes World War II letters to Rayburn Moore from his family and friends and World War I letters from Max Moore in England to his wife. Max was a sergeant in the American Expeditionary Forces, Hospital Unit T, Medical Department. The artifacts include a World War II Army uniform, a World War I blue star banner, dog tags, medals, a man's watch, and an American flag.

Rayburn Moore (1920-2006), son of Max Sabatsky Moore (1895-1979) and Sammie Lou Rayburn Moore, was born in Helena, Arkansas. He attended Hendrix College (Conway, Arkansas), Vanderbilt University, and Duke University. He was inducted into the Army in 1942 and stationed at several camps including Camp Ellis (IL).
